Have You Met Cami, our newest team member?

Cami joined Avondale Dental Center this May as our newest hygienist to help fill the loss of Katie and Ruth.  We couldn't be happier to have her here.  She is doing a great job!  If you haven't met her yet, stick your head in and say "hi" next time you are at the office.

Cami was born and raised here in Coeur d'Alene.  She graduated early from Lake City High School to travel across the world to Nepal.  While there, she spent her last semester of high school exploring and helping those in need.  She moved back to Idaho where she fell in love with her now husband, Jonathan.  Cami continued on to dental hygiene school at Carrington College in Boise.  Cami loves spending time with friends and family.  She is a true North Idaho girl!! She enjoys fishing, hunting, hiking, camping, and snowmobiling.

Fun Facts

  • The average women smiles about 62 times a day, while the average man smiles only 8 times. Women are also more likely to brush their teeth and visit the dentist regularly. Think there might be a connection here?
  • Americans spend $100 billion per year on hair care products – and only $2 billion a year on dental care products. What good is great hair without a great smile?
  • If flossing properly, the average person should use 122 yards of floss per year. Twenty-eight percent of people claim to floss daily, but annual sales data shows only an average of 18 yards of floss are sold per person. We think someone’s fibbing.
  • Did you know that Americans cite bad breath as the least attractive trait a co-worker can have? Be more popular around the water cooler and brush after lunch.
  • Cap the paste but not the brush. Covering the brush can trap moisture and encourage bacteria growth. Yeah, we know. Gross, huh?
  • Saliva helps you eat by breaking apart food particles and cleaning your mouth afterwards. The average person produces 10,000 gallons of saliva over their lifetime (no data as to how much winds up as spitballs).

Katie's Going Away Party

We are all sad to see Katie moving away.  She has a great opportunity and gets to be closer to home and family.  Everyone pampered her and wished her farewell on Friday night.

Thanks for everything Katie.  Avondale Dental Center and all our patients will miss you greatly!

A Bit Much? Royal Wedding Fan Tattoos Teeth - KHQ Right Now - News and Weather for Spokane and North Idaho

LONDON, England - Is there something stuck on your teeth? Oh no, that's just a tattoo of Prince William and Kate Middleton.

One man has officially won The Windsor Knot's royal wedding mania title by willingly paying £1,000 to submit to six hours in a dentist's chair in order to have the famous duo emblazoned on his choppers.

British plumber Barmy Baz Franks, 29, got a dentist to use ultrafine brushes and stencils to paint images of the smiling royals. The temporary ivory art – known as "gnasher tats" – will last roughly three months, depending on how much Barmy Baz Franks brushes. "I've done some unusual dental cosmetics in my time, but this was certainly one of the strangest," said the dentist, Dr. Neil Gerrard, in an interview with Small World News Service.

The patient says he was just doing his part to help celebrate the April 29 nuptials. "I love the royal family and this was my way of lending my support to their big day," said Franks.

We think we know who would make a good match for the tattooed fan: The royal wedding hunger striker.
